When Managing Director Bjørn Platou was admitted for minimally invasive surgery in 2009, he anticipated a quick recovery. Instead, a hospital-acquired infection (HAI) sent him to the hospital’s isolation ward for six weeks. During this excruciating period, he endured multiple surgical procedures and antibiotics courses. These treatments helped Platou avoid the amputation of his arm, but they also left him with a critical question: How can we use technology to prevent infections rather than simply contain outbreaks? 

Platou’s answer was Decon-X Prevent: a groundbreaking automated infection prevention system trusted by more than 300 healthcare institutions, private practices, food production organisations and athletic facilities. 

With each passing day, infection prevention is only becoming more critical. HAIs cost the European Union an astounding €7 billion annually. In the United States, that figure is more than $34 billion.
